What the record shows
The Embraer 190 has had one fatal accident attributable to airframe or operational causes: Henan Airlines flight 8387, which struck terrain short of the runway at Yichun, China in August 2010 during a low-visibility approach in fog, killing 44 of the 96 people on board. Two further fatal losses are excluded from this type rate because investigators attributed them to causes outside the aircraft, one a deliberate act by a crew member and one a surface-to-air missile. Four other E190s were written off with no loss of life, in three runway overruns and one maintenance rigging error.
