What the record shows

The A319 is the shortened member of the A320 family and entered service with Swissair in April 1996. In thirty years of airline flying no passenger or crew member has been killed in an accident involving the type. Its small number of write-offs came from a ground collision at New York in 2003, a landing short of the runway at Palermo in 2010 and a rejected takeoff at Chongqing in 2022, all with no deaths on board.

Engine programme: Method: effective in-service fleet-years multiplied by typical annual departures per aircraft. Delivery curve (Airbus O and D via Wikipedia, 1,484 A319ceo delivered through 30 Jun 2025): about 200 by end 2000, 600 by end 2005, 1,100 by end 2010, 1,400 by end 2015, essentially complete by 2020; fleet has since declined through retirements to about 1,264 A319s of all versions in service in August 20 EXCLUSIONS: EXCLUDED under the external-attack policy: (1) Afriqiyah Airways A319-111 5A-ONC, destroyed by artillery fire at Tripoli Mitiga on 15 Jan 2018 during militia clashes, no occupant fatalities. (2) Iran Air A319-111 EP-IEP, parked and destroyed at Bushehr airport on 3 Mar 2026 in US and Israeli air strikes, no occupant fatalities. Both are war losses of parked aircraft, not airframe or operational fa
