What the record shows
The Embraer 170 is the smallest member of the first generation E-Jet family and has recorded no fatal accidents and no hull losses in more than twenty years of airline service. Its logged occurrences are runway excursions, ground collisions and hard landings, none of which destroyed an aircraft. Production ended after 191 were built, and most survivors now fly short regional routes in the United States and Japan.
Engine programme: Labelled estimate. 191 delivered 2004 to 2011 (Wikipedia orders and deliveries table, as of Jun 2025); fleet has drawn down to roughly 115 active (Republic Airways and Envoy Air hold the large majority, plus 2 at Fuji Dream). Trapezoid over the fleet curve: 2004-2007 avg 80 x 4yr = 320; 2008-2011 avg 185 x 4yr = 740; 2012-2019 avg 185 x 8yr = 1480; 2020-2021 avg 175 x 2yr x 0.70 COVID factor = 245 EXCLUSIONS: None. No E170 event in the ASN database falls under the deliberate-action or external-attack exclusion, and there are no fatal accidents or hull losses to exclude.
